NCAA-Approved Academics

Academy 48 is the only sports academy that is teacher-led, meaning we own our curriculum rather than outsourcing the educational process. Our hybrid learning environment helps ensure every student receives the highest educational experience, not just through a laptop and a Zoom meeting.

In the 2026/2027 school year, we will continue working toward our WSAC accreditation. This will ensure that our education model and curriculum meet state and national standards.

Beyond The Game Curriculum

We go beyond the core curriculum to deliver a holistic learning experience that goes beyond the classroom.

Identity & Self-Awareness

Before players can lead anyone else, they have to know who they are. Week 1 is about building that foundation. Players identify their core values, examine their strengths and blind spots, connect with their personal story and background, and find their “why” — the reason they compete and want to grow. Every player closes the week by writing and delivering their Identity Statement to the group. It stays on the classroom wall for all 8 weeks.

Mindset & Self-Discipline

Once players know who they are, we give them the mental tools to actually live it — especially under pressure. Week 2 covers the difference between a fixed and growth mindset, how to build a discipline system that doesn’t rely on motivation alone, how to design a personal reset routine for handling failure and setbacks, and how to structure a daily routine that compounds over time. Players leave Week 2 with a Routine Card they carry through the rest of camp.

Grit & Perseverance

Week 3 is the first real stress test. Players learn what grit actually is — passion plus perseverance — and how it shows up differently than simple toughness. They build a Goal Ladder that connects their daily actions to their long-term dreams, go through the Adversity Gauntlet on the field, and write a public Grit Pledge that commits them to a specific standard for the rest of the summer.

Integrity & Accountability

This is where the inward work turns outward for the first time. Players examine what it actually costs to be honest — with a coach, a teammate, themselves. They practice owning mistakes without excuses, learn to keep their word in small and large moments, and participate in an Accountability Circle where every player publicly names what they’re asking their teammates to hold them to.

Respect & Empathy

You cannot lead people you don’t understand. Week 5 is about learning to see other people fully. Players work through the Three Rings of Respect (respect for self, for others, and for the game), practice stepping into someone else’s perspective, learn a framework for resolving conflict before it escalates, and close the week with a Listening Circle — one of the most powerful exercises of the program.

Teamwork & Communication

Phase 3 begins here, and everything players have built about themselves gets applied to a group. Players identify their natural team role, practice the difference between assertive, passive, and aggressive communication, train encouragement as a deliberate skill (not just noise), and establish three team communication standards they commit to holding each other to through the final two weeks of camp.

Servant Leadership

This is the week the entire program has been building toward. Players learn the difference between servant leadership and self-serving leadership, study leaders who lived it (Lou Gehrig, Buck O’Neil, Joe Torre, Roberto Clemente), design a personal 30-day community impact plan they commit to completing after camp ends, and write and deliver their Personal Mission Statement — the most significant document of the summer.

Legacy & Capstone

The final week brings everything together. Players define what legacy actually means — not stats and trophies, but how you competed, how you treated people, and who you helped build. They review their full journal and map their growth across all 8 weeks. They write a sealed letter to their future self, to be opened one year from today. And on the final day, they participate in the Certificate Ceremony — reading aloud all seven of their wall documents, delivering written legacy tributes to a teammate, signing their Final Commitment with their coach, and receiving their certificate and trophy.
